Thank you, but I dare not take credit. All text, with the exception of the occasional insertion of Scripture, is exclusively excerpted from the “Martyrs Mirror,” compiled by from various authentic chronicles, memorials and testimonies.
It is so humbling to be in the presence of “so great a cloud of witnesses,” our brothers and sisters in the faith who persevered through sufferings and death of a nature we can not imagine.
Jan Luiken, in one engraving, captures a particularly poignant moment. Against a background where a cross adorns every tower, spire, and steeple, two solitary figures search among the still warm ashes for the screw that muted their mother’s final witness. A scrap of metal now precious; both a remembrance and a testimony.
